Bright Vegan Chocolate-Covered Orange Slices With Citrus Flavor

I baked this Vegan Chocolate Covered Orange Slices for my neighbor’s book club last week. The orange gave it bright citrus under chocolate, and my sister loved them.

This recipe is straightforward and easy to follow, making it an ideal choice for a quick vegan dessert that impresses. With just a few ingredients, you can create a stunning treat that is perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.

Easy Vegan Chocolate-Covered Orange Slices

Vegan chocolate-covered orange slices on a white plate, garnished with orange zest.

This vegan dessert features fresh orange slices dipped in melted dark chocolate, then chilled until set. The recipe takes about 30 minutes to prepare and is perfect for serving as a light snack or a sweet ending to a meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 large oranges, sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1 cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional for smoother chocolate)
  • Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)
  • Zest of one orange for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oranges: Slice the oranges into 1/4 inch thick rounds and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Dip the Orange Slices: Dip each orange slice into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Place the chocolate-coated slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Add Toppings: If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or orange zest on top of each slice before the chocolate sets.
  5. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  6. Serve: Once set, remove the slices from the parchment paper and serve chilled. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
