I made this Vegan Chocolate Rolls for my mom’s birthday last month. The chocolate stayed gooey in the center, and my nephew loved them.
Decadent Vegan Chocolate Rolls Recipe

These chocolate rolls feature a fluffy dough surrounding a rich, gooey chocolate center. The recipe takes about 1 hour to prepare and serves 12 rolls, making it a fantastic choice for brunch or dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk), warmed
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup dairy-free chocolate chips or chunks
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine the warmed almond milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle dairy-free chocolate chips evenly over the surface.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into equal portions, about 1-2 inches wide, and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Final Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes. They’re done when puffed and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm for the best gooey texture.
