Rich Vegan Maple Walnuts With a Sweet Caramelized Coating

I made this Vegan Maple Walnuts for my aunt’s garden party last month. The maple gave them rich caramel coating, and my aunt liked them.

These walnuts are perfect for snacking, adding to desserts, or even as a topping for salads and oatmeal. The recipe is simple and can be prepared in under 30 minutes, making it an easy and satisfying treat.

Quick and Easy Maple Walnuts Recipe

Caramelized vegan maple walnuts in a rustic bowl, arranged with cinnamon and whole walnuts, with a drizzle of maple syrup.

The caramelized coating on these walnuts offers a delightful crunch and a sweet flavor, achieved through a quick cooking process. This recipe yields approximately 2 cups of glazed walnuts, perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw walnuts
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Walnut Coating: In a mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, coconut sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Coat the Walnuts: Add the walnuts to the bowl and mix until they’re evenly coated in the syrup mixture.
  4. Bake: Spread the coated walnuts evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to prevent burning and ensure even caramelization.
  5. Cool and Serve: Once golden brown, remove from the oven and let the walnuts cool completely on the baking sheet. The coating will harden as they cool. Enjoy as a snack or use as a topping for your favorite dishes.
