I baked this Vegan Sesame Brittle for my neighbor’s book club last week. The sesame stayed crunchy and nutty, and my friend liked it.
Delicious Vegan Sesame Brittle

This vegan sesame brittle is made with just a few ingredients, including sesame seeds, sugar, and maple syrup, providing a perfect sweet and nutty combination. The recipe takes about 30 minutes and makes a generous batch that’s great for sharing or keeping as a treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Cook Sugar Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, maple syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to boil.
- Boil Mixture: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring for about 5-7 minutes, or until it reaches a golden amber color.
- Add Sesame Seeds: Remove from heat and quickly stir in the toasted sesame seeds and vanilla extract if using.
- Pour and Spread: Immediately pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it out evenly and let it cool completely.
- Break into Pieces: Once cool, break the brittle into pieces and store in an airtight container.
