Sweet Vegan Pear Dumplings With a Warm Spiced Filling

I baked this Vegan Pear Dumplings for my niece’s birthday party last weekend. The pears went soft with spice, and my sister liked them.

Using simple ingredients, these dumplings provide a satisfying and delicious vegan dessert experience. The combination of pears with spices creates a fragrant and inviting aroma that will have everyone asking for seconds.

Warm Spiced Pear Dumplings

Warm vegan pear dumplings on a plate, dusted with powdered sugar and fresh pear slices.

These vegan pear dumplings are made by wrapping pear slices infused with cinnamon and nutmeg in a soft dough, which is then baked to perfection. This recipe takes about 45 minutes and serves 4 people.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pears: In a bowl, combine sliced pears, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup. Mix well and set aside to marinate while preparing the dough.
  2. Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cutter or a glass.
  4. Fill the Dumplings: Place a slice of the spiced pear mixture onto the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges over and pinch to seal tightly.
  5. Bake the Dumplings: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the dumplings on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Allow the dumplings to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if using. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful flavors.
