Fudgy Vegan Baked Chocolate Donuts With a Glossy Glaze

I baked this Vegan Baked Chocolate Donuts for my niece’s birthday party last weekend. The chocolate stayed fudgy under the glaze, and my niece loved them.

Delicious Vegan Baked Chocolate Donuts

Fudgy vegan baked chocolate donuts topped with glossy glaze and sprinkles, served on a plate on a wooden table.

These chocolate donuts are a delightful combination of rich cocoa and moist vanilla batter, baked to yield a light yet fudgy texture. The recipe takes about 30 minutes from start to finish and yields 12 donuts, making them perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or any plant-based milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2-3 tablespoons almond milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the almond milk, applesauce, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fill the Donut Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  7. Prepare the Glaze: In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, almond milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Glaze the Donuts: Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze or drizzle it over the donuts for a beautiful finish.
  9. Serve: Enjoy the donuts fresh or store them in an airtight container for a few days.
