Cozy Vegan Apple Crumble With a Golden Cinnamon Topping

I baked this Vegan Apple Crumble for my niece’s birthday party last weekend. The apples softened under the cinnamon topping, and my family finished it.

This vegan apple crumble brings together tender baked apples, rich with spices, and a buttery crumble topping made from oats and flour. It takes about 50 minutes from start to finish and serves 6 people.

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Non-dairy ice cream or yogurt for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Apples: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Arrange the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  3. Make the Crumble: In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and salt. Mix until crumbly. If desired, add chopped nuts for extra texture.
  4. Assemble the Crumble: Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with non-dairy ice cream or yogurt, if desired.
