Crispy Vegan Apple Fritters With a Sweet Cinnamon Glaze

I baked this Vegan Apple Fritters for my book club last week. The apples stayed crisp under the glaze, and my dad loved them.

Delicious Vegan Apple Fritters

Crispy golden-brown vegan apple fritters drizzled with cinnamon glaze and garnished with apple slices.

This recipe for vegan apple fritters features a simple batter mixed with diced apples and then fried until crispy. The sweet cinnamon glaze adds a wonderful finishing touch that makes them irresistible. The preparation takes approximately 30 minutes and yields about 12 fritters.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (such as almond or oat milk)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 medium apple, peeled and diced
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for the glaze
  • 1 tablespoon almond milk for the glaze
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon for the glaze

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix the non-dairy milk and apple cider vinegar. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the diced apple.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a deep pot or frying pan, heat oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  3. Fry the Fritters: Using a spoon, drop small amounts of the batter into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, almond milk, and cinnamon until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or sugar as necessary.
  5. Glaze the Fritters: Once the fritters are cool, drizzle the cinnamon glaze over the top and serve immediately.
